Climate Revolt: Thousands disrupt International Motor Show in Frankfurt

Under the motto "Get out of the Combustion Engine - Traffic Turnaround Now!" more than 20.000 people are protesting in Frankfurt. At the gates of the International Motor Show (IAA), demonstrators are calling for a change in transportation politics that would ensure the climate to stay within the 1.5-degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement. The demonstration is organized by the alliance #aussteigen including the NGOs ADFC, BUND, Campact, Deutsche Umwelthilfe, Greenpeace, NaturFreunde Deutschlands and VCD. Unter dem Motto “Raus aus dem Verbrennungsmotor – Verkehrswende jetzt!” haben heute mehr als 20.000 Menschen mit einer Fahrrad-Sternfahrt und Demonstration in Frankfurt protestiert. Vor den Toren der Internationalen Automobilausstellung (IAA) forderten die Demonstrierenden eine Verkehrswende, die die Einhaltung des 1,5-Grad-Ziels des Pariser Klimaabkommens sicherstellt. Zu den Protesten hatte das Buendnis #aussteigen aufgerufen, in dem sich ADFC, BUND, Campact, Deutsche Umwelthilfe, Greenpeace, NaturFreunde Deutschlands und VCD engagieren.
